Here at Silver Valley Dental, we are happy to answer any questions that patients have about their Invisalign treatments. But lately, we’ve noticed that some patients are asking the same questions. We’ve decided to compile our most recent inquiries here and have answered them for your convenience. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to take them.
Patients with metal braces often keep their braces for years, and Invisalign patients may think that they can expect the similar. However the opposite is true. The length of treatment for Invisalign will vary from around 12 months to 18 months, but this all depends on your individual needs. Dr. Chow will provide you with an estimated time of completion, and you can rest assured that no matter how bad your teeth may seem, the length of treatment will be much less than with braces.
Patients with metal braces in the past have expressed how the braces can be painful after each visit. While Invisalign aligners are meant to tighten your teeth after each set, the most you’ll experience is some soreness as your teeth adjust. If you find that you are experiencing excruciating pain after switching to a new aligner set, come see Dr. Chow immediately.
Orthodontic treatment can begin at any age that is necessary for your child or teen. However, if you suspect there may be a problem with your child’s teeth in their early development, have them see an orthodontist before age 7 to discuss the issues. Typically, serious orthodontic treatment begins once the patient has obtained all of their permanent, adult teeth.
Yes! There’s a common misconception that Invisalign is for adults, but it’s for children and teens as well. It’s why there’s a special branch of this treatment known as Invisalign Teen. Dr. Chow takes your child’s growth into account as they undergo dental changes, and each Invisalign teen aligner is equipped with a blue dot indicator that turns clear when it’s time to swap out for a new set. This makes it convenient for patients to make appointments and take better care of their aligners.
Yes, we only ask that you let us know how long you will be gone. The Invisalign treatment works best when it’s kept to a schedule, with the aligners being swapped out for the next set about every two weeks. If you will be going on vacation for long than that, please let Dr. Chow and our team know during your next appointment.
It depends. It is true that certain dental devices like crowns or bridges may be troublesome for your Invisalign treatment. These devices cannot be moved, unlike your natural teeth. If you have a dental device, speak to Dr. Chow about your eligibility for Invisalign treatment.
We understand that accidents happen. If you do lose an aligner, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can replace it.
Are you ready to start your Invisalign treatment, or have more questions about what it entails? Feel free to speak with one of our experienced team members to have your questions answered, and schedule a consultation with Dr. Chow about your candidacy for Invisalign clear aligners. We proudly serve patients from Maple Ridge and surrounding areas.
